RAFT breaks through the previous limitations of TEMPO and ATRP on monomers, reaction conditions, catalysts, etc. It can meet the requirements of living polymerization under the conditions of the application of traditional free radical polymerization. This laboratory will use RAFT polymerization to synthesize functionalized block copolymers, adjust the self-assembly pattern of polymers through environmental changes, and establish a  data database to achieve precise control and prediction of polymer self-assembly patterns. We will also apply polymer self-assembly to controlled drug release and targeted therapy. At the same time, our laboratory will also study biomedical sensing technology based on the surface plasmon resonance of gold and silver nanoparticles. Since the expertise of our lab is polymer design, we are interested in improving and optimizing polymer processing via polymer synthesis.
